SONGWRITING WORKSHOP WITH KATE

Venue: Froncysyllte Community Centre, Gate Road, LL20 7RH

Join us for an exploration into words, sound and voice in this gentle introduction to songwriting. We will start the day with a short walk guided by Emily, gathering words and language from the local environment along the Froncysyllte canal. After refreshments back at the hall, Kate will help us turn our words into simple songs. No music or writing experience is necessary!

About us: Kate Allan is a singer/songwriter working mainly with health service users. She facilitates vocal improvisation sessions as a way to help people gain confidence in singing. Emily Wilkinson is a holistic creative, working in words, visual art, movement and digital media. She is a yoga/movement teacher and lowland walking leader.

What to bring: a notebook and pen, warm layers and waterproofs, shoes suitable for being outdoors, a bottle of water. Hot drinks and snacks will be provided. Portable recording equipment eg a smart phone, might come in handy.

The terrain: we will leave the village hall for a short walk along the canal, also spending time in the village hall’s community garden. The canal is down a steep-ish lane. Expect no-pressure creative time, connection, fun and laughter. All sharing of our work is optional.

Cost: £25 (concessions available, please email emily.f.wilkinson@gmail.com for more info if cost is an issue for you).
