We will work with old books, magazines and collage papers to create your own pieces of text art. Found poetry is a beautifully intuitive art form (some might even say it's a form of divination), let chance discoveries and artistry guide you to find the poetry within.
This workshop takes place on Zoom. You will need the following materials to take part:
What you need:
• Some larger paper or card (A3 or A2) (optional - pre-prepare some backgrounds using paints or other art materials if you’re used to working with these things)
• A selection of collage papers - old wrapping paper, recycled papers, wrappers, scraps from old artwork, tissue paper, anything interesting you can cut up.
• Old books that you don’t mind cutting up, browse the charity shops or thrift stores for some that spark your imagination!
• A selection of magazines and newspapers to cut up. Hint: the higher quality the writing in your chosen material, the better your found poems will be!
• A pencil, a black writing pen and a black marker pen (both a permanent and non permanent one preferably)
• Glue (both pritt-stick and PVA will be useful, plus a container and old brush for the PVA)
• Small scissors (and optional craft knife / scalpel and cutting mat if you’re familiar with using these)
• Optional - paints / drawing pens / any other art materials you have to hand
• Optional: pair of tweezers
